Bummer. Here's mine. Coupla weeks ago, I jointed and joined a nice spruce top from BobC for a 000 that I'm working on. I traced the outline of the body onto it, and drew the soundhole and its center. This weekend I did the rosette, turned out great, cut the soundhole. Went to the bandsaw and cut it out the top ON THE ACTUAL OUTLINE OF THE BODY. I think I'll be ok using it, but there will be NO slack, except for the width of the binding and purfling, which will be slim. No intelligence here.

Well, here's mine: I have two heat lamps that I use to help dry spray-on water-based finish. Both of these have built in spring clamp bases with a ball-and socket swivel amd a tightening screw. I had finished spraying the final coat on a mad. rosewood classical body, hung it up as usual, turned on the lights and left it overnight. When I came back the next morning, one of the lamp bases had loosened itself and fell forward in the direction of the guitar and had raised the temp. enough to spring open the back joint and cause a nasty open crack next to it, and completely unglue the middle back brace. I put it in a trash bag with a wet sponge, and after a week the large crack had closed enough to where I think I can glue it back. I would have been buffing and stringing it up this weekend. I guess I am lucky that I didn't burn my house down. Chris, I will buy you a new Woodslicer if you fix this mess for me

Late one Friday night after a very long work week I decided to run a way too small piece of mahogany through my jointer. Of course it kicked back and I ran the tip of my middle finger through the blades. Someone was looking out for me (I sure wasn't) and all I have to show for it is a tiny scar where the blades just barely skimmed the tip of my finger. Every time I turn on a power tool I really stop and think about what I'm doing. You can learn a lot from mistakes. BobK |

i worked for a toolmaker and then a sheet metal fabricating shop several years each - i've got a couple of nice 3inch scars that told me i needed to get out of there. the crowning moment came when i squashed my thumb with a 4lb hammer..knocked the corner of it off all bar a thread of skin. i flipped it back on, taped it up and had a cup of tea to get some colour back in my face ! when i took the 'dressing' off a few days later thankfully the corner grafted well. i stuck some of the dirty tape on my home made electric to remind me everyday to be careful! ( it didnt ruin the appearence of the guitar...tells you a bit about my attention to cosmetics!) that was 12yrs ago, since then i've not had any mis-haps. i dont care how long it takes to do a job, taking serious risks is not an option!! |

Dave caught his pinky on the router table the day before yesterday when a piece of MDF for a mold caught. Had a pin inserted last night and is VEEEEERY sore today. Watch those fingers folks. It's a jungle in there. (Right hand pinky so won't affect his playing too much) |

Ahhh... another right hand pinky injury! Broomball tournament championship this weekend, gloves on too.(Think hockey without skates.) I took a rather vicious slash to the right pinky. Looks like I now have two right thumbs! 
Had it been thumb or forefinger, Inlay work would have been done for some time. You never know
(We did win the tourney though  ) Safe 'til next year!!!
